From Zagreb (North)
- Approximate Drive Time: 2 hours 18 minutes
- Distance: ~136 km
Driving Directions:
- From Zagreb, take the A1 highway (Autocesta A1) southbound toward Split/Rijeka.
- Continue on the A1 until you reach the Karlovac exit. Take this exit.
- After passing the toll booths, merge onto the D1 state road (Državna cesta D1) heading south toward Slunj and Plitvička Jezera.
- Pass through the scenic town of Slunj (and the Rastoke waterfalls area).
- As you approach the Plitvice Lakes National Park area, follow the local signs pointing toward Plitvica Selo. You will detour off the main D1 road onto a narrower local road that leads directly into the settlement of Plitvica Selo to reach the resort.
From Rijeka (West)
- Approximate Drive Time: 2 hours 26 minutes
- Distance: ~163 km
Driving Directions:
- Leave Rijeka by taking the A6 highway eastbound toward Zagreb.
- At the Bosiljevo 2 interchange, keep right to merge onto the A1 highway southbound toward Split/Zadar.
- You can either take the Ogulin exit or continue to the Josipdol/Plitvice exit.
- Follow the regional roads (D23 and D42) via Josipdol and Plaški toward Saborsko.
- Alternatively, you can take the A1 all the way to Karlovac and switch to the D1 south (which adds a bit of distance but utilizes wider, main highways for longer).
- Follow the final directional signs through the back-road access toward Plitvica Selo on the west/northwest edge of the lakes.
From Zadar (South-West)
- Approximate Drive Time: 2 hours 24 minutes
- Distance: ~146 km
Driving Directions:
- From Zadar, head toward the Zadar 1 or Zadar 2 highway entrances and join the A1 highway northbound toward Zagreb.
- Continue driving north through the Sveti Rok tunnel.
- Take the Gornja Ploča exit (Exit 13).
- From the exit, merge onto the D522 road toward Udbina.
- At Udbina, merge onto the D1 state road heading north toward Korenica and Plitvička Jezera.
- Pass through Korenica. Before reaching the main national park Entrance 1, follow the specific indicators turning left toward the Plitvica Selo local access road.
From Split (South)
- Approximate Drive Time: 3 hours 35 minutes
- Distance: ~271 km
Driving Directions:
- From Split, follow signs to join the A1 highway northbound toward Zagreb (accessible via the Dugopolje junction).
- Remain on the A1 heading north for roughly 160–180 km.
- Take the Gornja Ploča exit (Exit 13) to leave the highway.
- Take the D522 toward Udbina, and then catch the northbound D1 state road passing through Korenica.
- Drive past the southern edges of the national park, and then look for the left turn guiding traffic into Plitvica Selo.
